We left Amsterdam at 9AM on Wednesday June 29th .. and after an hour and half stop in Berlin, got into Poznan at 8:30 PM. We walked to, and settled into our hotel room, and then made our way the four or so blocks to the hostel where the group was staying. Sadly all was quiet there. But only for a little while. Then we noticed a group of people coming. I think Rebekah's scream could be heard for miles away! :)
Thursday we joined them for breakfast, and headed off to practice our music. After lunch we headed out to do some short concerts and hand out flyers to our Friday evening and Saturday afternoon concerts. We were rained on partly, but we had a bunch of people stopping to listen to us.
Friday Aaron & I decided to spend the day alone. We were able to "rent" a taxi for 3-1/2 hours and had the driver take us around the city, and stop at a few places. We first went to the Exotic Flower Garden, which had some beautiful orchids and other flowers. We also stopped in at one of the war cemeteries and saw Russian and British sites. We also stopped at the oldest cathedral in Poznan.
That evening we had a concert which about 20 to 30 people showed up for. We were quite happy with that! :) Saturday afternoon we had another concert, which thankfully we got to enjoy under a covered bandshell, since it was a drizzly, rainy day. We had a few people for that one too.
Sunday we enjoyed service with some of the members of the Poznan and Wrozclaw churches. We had a most delicious lunch of roasted lamb! After we got back to the hostel, we enjoyed some time visiting and had a dinner of bbq'd polish sausage.
After shedding a few tears and saying good-night and see you soons, we headed back to our hotel to pack up.
Monday morning saw us sitting on the train, heading back home to Amsterdam.
