A couple rainy day walks around Amsterdam

So the last two days were a bit rainy and wet and completely grey.  I decided to go out in it anyway! :)

Tuesday I just wandered around in the historic district and the Dam Square, and Wednesday I went to the Royal Palace.  Sadly you can only see one floor of the palace, and you can't use your flash, so my pictures are kinda blurry and orangish because of that. :(

I'd hate to serve a cup of coffee in that house!

no parking sign along the canal, for the boats :)
canal ~ boat parking ~ car parking ~ tiny one lane street ~ house

And now some pictures from the Royal Palace.
All the doors had this decorative artwork on them.
It was even on the ceilings!
Marble walls with crystal chandeliers ~ all over!

I love the details on the columns!

And one final shot of some "paving" of a new road!

Well now I'm off to do another load of laundry ~ this washer is really small! And then I have to pack an overnight bag for us, we are off to Kerpen, Germany for the night.  Aaron has to meet a customer there tomorrow.  I'm told its a pretty small boring town, but I'm hoping to be able to wander around and see some different housing and architecture!

  2. Are they just cleaner than us, and don't need to wash their clothes as often?

  3. I love the shots of the city - makes me want to be back in Holland for sure! Keep sending pics and updates from your travels - glad to hear that things seem to be going well and that you are getting in good doses of culture - you can practise your dutch and german too - what fun!!!
